Description:

The viol player Hille Perl is not only a star of the early music scene, but also makes a name for herself. If a 45-minute portrait was just running on Arte, it has now been awarded the ECHO Klassik for the third time (for â??Loves Alchemyâ?). On her new CD Hille Perl presents a wonderful and unusual Christmas program with pieces from the 16th and 17th centuries together with the singer Anna Maria Friman (Trio Medieval), the Sirius Viols and Lee Santana. It includes settings by composers such as Johann Walther, 1496-1570 ("Now come the Heiden Heiland"), who was directly connected to Martin Luther, or Balthasar Resinarius, 1480-1546 ("Gelobet seystu Jesu Christ"). Georg Forster, 1514-1568 (with the setting of "Vom Himmel hoch") was also part of Luther's table community. The next generation of composers came from Johann Eccard (1553-1611) and Cornelius Freundt (around 1535-1591), who were among the musical forefathers of masters like Michael PrÃ¤torius.
